I recently found a good deal for another QuickFire Rapid mechanical keyboard on Amazon Warehouse (their returns department.) Some people have complained about the Alt key not working on one batch of keyboards that Cooler Master made. This one happened to slip through Amazon's quality control too, and got put up for sale again.
Instead of sending it back, I decided to open it up and to see if I could fix the problem. I'm sure the info would come in handy in the future for someone else when their Alt key stops working and they're outside of warranty. Plus, it gave me a chance to test out my new soldering tools some more. (See previous post)

Today I put some new soldering tools to work on swapping key switches on a mechanical keyboard. The Cherry MX switches underneath each key require desoldering from the PCB before they can be unmounted from the metal plate. I used a Hakko FX-901 battery powered soldering iron, brass soldering iron tip cleaner, and a desoldering pump.
