Mason jar radio

I got the idea of putting an AM/FM radio into a Mason jar after a friend told me about this Kickstarter: The Public Radio. I thought it was a little overpriced, and way under-featured. It comes hard-programmed to just a single station.

So I took upon the challenge of breaking down a normal $12 radio, mounting the contents onto a lid of a Mason jar, and rewiring everything to keep it fully functional.

Motorcycle helmet unpainting

This helmet was painted yellow at one point in it's lifetime. (Not by me.) I had it sandblasted to its original white color. Now I'm using it as room decoration, and to hide my modem/router setup.

Lock repinning

While lubing the deadbolt on my front door, I accidentally disassembled it a little more than I had planned. Time to learn how to repin so that my key will fit again.

New shoes

My dad helped big time with this one. It was a physical struggle getting the tires off and on the rim. Next time, I'm just taking the wheel off and bringing it to a shop with a tire changing machine.

The PC is going into a completely enclosed TV console. Adding a fan to keep it cool.
(Sorry for the cell phone pics, didn't have my camera on me.)

Sink P-trap

Medicine cabinet fail. I had a shelf collapse and drop part of my shaving razor down the drain. Here's taking off the P-trap to retrieve the sunken item.

Notes
1. The contents of a P-trap is a lot more gross than pictured. I cleaned it up for the photo.
2. I have strainer on the bathroom sink now.

BMW e36 cabin air filter

The e36 has the most ridiculous location for an air cabin filter. It's deep underneath the dashboard. Changing it requires removing the entire glove compartment. I had a feeling it was rarely changed, but what I pulled out ended up being the car's original filter from 1998!

Logitech G700 mouse switch replacement

A pretty common malfunction for this mouse, after years of use, is to have the primary click button not keep the circuit closed when you hold it down. Click + hold sometimes registers as double click. Logitech has a lifetime warranty, but since this model is discontinued, and the newer model they would send (S700s) as a replacement is ugly looking, I decided to replace the problematic switch myself.

There's plenty of replacement Omron switches on ebay. Most mice use the same one, so you can even salvage one from an old unused mouse.
